Start and end times vary by site.
Some half-day camps are offered for younger children.

February 1  at 8 am
Registration begins for our members of the following member levels: Grandparent, Household, Household Plus, and above.

February 15
Registration begins for non-members.

The goal of Delaware Nature Society’s summer camps
is to provide the best experience possible for the participants. We reserve the right to decline registration when our expertise cannot accommodate your child’s needs. We require all campers be toilet trained prior to the start of a camp.

What to Wear and Bring Each Day

  • Clothes that can get wet, muddy, dirty,
    stinky, and worn in all kinds of weather
  • Shoes with closed-toes like sneakers, Crocs,
    or hiking shoes – no flip-flops or sandals
  • Day pack with water bottle and lunch
    Note: we provide mid-morning snacks
  • Bathing suits – children ages 5-8 in full-day camps
    bring a bathing suit and towel daily
  • Insect repellent and sunscreen – wear every day
  • Labeled medications with instructions

Inclement Weather

Camps will be held rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, activities may be modified or moved indoors.

Refunds, Cancellations, & Transfers

Requests for withdrawal 15 business days or
more prior to the scheduled camp start date will be honored. Refunds for withdrawal fewer than 15 business days prior to the start date will be issued only if the slot is filled. A $35 administrative fee will be withheld for each camp withdrawal regardless of withdrawal date. Every effort to accommodate transfers to a different camp will be made. If additional processing is required to complete the transfer (e.g. refunding difference in fees, contacting wait lists, etc.), you may be charged an administrative fee.

Photo Release

We reserve the right to use any photos/video/artwork
of program participants to promote our mission unless otherwise notified in writing.

Visit our registration page, add your camp choices to the cart, add your needed extended care for the week(s)/day(s) of those camps to the cart, and then check out.

Summer Camp Teacher Naturalist Instructors

Our Instructors

Our instructors are full-time school teachers, Delaware Nature Society staff, and Teacher Naturalists. All are trained professionals and experts in the outdoors and education who go through intensive training in working with children and pedagogy, environmental education techniques, natural history, van driving safety, canoe and kayak safety, and outdoor safety. All instructors are background-checked, have certifications in first aid and CPR, and are excited to share outdoor experiences with your camper.

Summer Camp Interns

Our Interns

Our interns assist with 9- to 15-year-old camps and are college graduates and undergraduates in the fields of education, national resource management, or wildlife sciences, and love nature.

Summer Camp Counselors

Our Counselors

Our counselors assist the teacher naturalists with 3- to 8-year-old camps. Counselors are 14- to 17-year-olds high school student volunteers with an interest in nature, the outdoors, and animals and who love working with children.
