Join this group of nature lovers and explorers. Hike, explore streams, woods, fields, and wetlands in search of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals at Ashland and local preserves.

Teen Naturalists (age 13-17)
Monthly Year-Round
Are you a teenager who likes hiking, kayaking, camping, wildlife, and just being outside? Join our group and make new friends that enjoy the same thing! With monthly outings we adventure, study nature, and volunteer at least 10 hours for Delaware Nature Society.
Price: Member $275 | Non-member $300
Based at Ashland Nature Center.

Trail Ambassadors Youth Development Program (age 14–17)
Part-Time Paid Position
Monday – Friday, 10 am – 3 pm, June – August 2022
Work during after school hours, September 2022 – May 2023
Each year, eight Wilmington youth are hired as Trail Ambassadors – a workforce development and science-education position. Youth explore nature year-round, learn to interpret the outdoors to the community and visitors, and complete environmental community-informed service projects.

Wilmington Youth Environmental Corps (WYEC) (age 13-18)
Paid 9-session Program (Participants earn a $350 stipend)

This paid 9-session program for City of Wilmington residents ages 13-18 provides hands-on outdoor activities, career exploration, exposure to environmental issues, and mentorship for younger youth.
Participants complete nine after-school sessions held at the Dupont Environmental Education Center (DEEC), Hicks Anderson Community Center, and Neighborhood House Inc, 1218 B St, Wilmington, DE.
This program is sponsored by the City of Wilmington Parks and Recreation Department and coordinated by Delaware Nature Society.
