Legacy Giving

Secure a lasting legacy for you and Delaware Nature Society. Delaware Nature Society has been working to preserve and protect the environment for more than 50 years. A number of our members have made an enduring pledge, via planned giving, to preserving land, conserving natural resources, and continue our longstanding commitment to the environment.

Delaware Nature Society established the Monarch Legacy Society to recognize these individuals for their profound contribution in ensuring that our education, conservation, and advocacy work continue to benefit future generations, helping to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for the people of our region. Many people have asked how they can help us remain strong and ensure our vision is fulfilled. Please consider us in your estate plans, which we encourage you to discuss with your financial advisor. Planning can yield great benefits to Delaware Nature Society, to you the donor, and to those who come after.

Types of Legacy Gifts

Choosing the right planned gift depends on your personal circumstances and financial goals.

Bequests

A basic provision in your will is the simplest way you can provide for Delaware Nature Society. Flexible and revocable, a bequest allows you to make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime.

Sample Bequest Language
I give and bequeath ($____ or [specific asset] or ____ % of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to Delaware Nature Society (Tax ID # 51-6018321), a non-profit charitable organization headquartered at Ashland Nature Center, P.O. Box 700, Hockessin, DE 19707, to be used in a manner they determine most critical to their mission to connect people with the natural world to improve our environment through education, conservation and advocacy.

Gifts of Retirement Plan Assets

An Individual Retirement Account (IRA) or other qualified retirement plan offers another very simple planning option that allows donors to bypass the combination of estate and income taxes that could be levied if these funds were passed to heirs.

Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRT)

Charitable Remainder Trusts afford a maximum of flexibility and the opportunity to make a generous gift to Delaware Nature Society.

Land or Real Estate

Gifts of real property such as land, a residence, or a farm may be given either outright or with the provision that the donor or spouse continue in residence during their lifetimes.

Gifts Made Through Life Insurance

Over time, relatively small insurance premiums build up large cash values. A donor may receive a charitable tax deduction through such gifts.
