Highlights from Clean Water Rally 2019
On June 5, over 125 Water Warriors rallied in Dover to advocate for dedicated funding for clean water. After gathering outside of Legislative Hall, citizen advocates heard from legislative leadership, including House Majority Leader Valerie Longhurst and Senate Pro Temp David McBride on their commitment to securing dedicated funding for clean water through HB 200, the Clean Water for Delaware Act. The bill, which would earmark $25 million per year of already existing funds for drinking water testing and clean water/flood reduction projects, was heard in the House Natural Resources Committee on the same day. Our Water Warriors flooded Leg Hall in blue, and after over 30 people testified in support of the bill, it was passed out of the Committee unanimously! We’re so grateful for our community of advocates and can’t wait to continue our great work!
