Isaacs Tract

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of an Atlantic white cedar swamp. Search for Red-shouldered Hawk, Wood Duck, Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Prothonotary Warbler, and American Beaver.  A short boardwalk allows visitors the opportunity to venture into the swamp without getting wet.

Isaacs Tract, a part of the Milford Millponds Nature Preserve, is located on the west side of the Johnston Branch a tributary of the Misspillion River in northern Sussex County Delaware. Here the Atlantic Coastal Plain woodlands and swamp are dominated by red maple and black gum trees with patches of Atlantic white cedar. The lush understory is made up of sweet pepperbush, winterberry, American holly. Tall loblolly pines grow in the drier areas of the site.

Parking available at our nearby Abbott’s Mill Nature Center Visitor Center.
