Volunteers Needed
Volunteers have played a key role in every stage of the development of the Delaware Nature Society and they continue to direct its work and contribute to the realization of its highest goals. We count our volunteers among our most valuable and respected assets--in all, 1,000 committed individuals who give of their valuable time, their special skills, and their personal interests to benefit the Society. Our environmental programs and accomplishments since the Society's inception have been possible only through their help, and the value of these services is reflected in our ability to conduct programs which receive no direct support.

Volunteer Guide Corps at Ashland Nature Center and Coverdale Farm
If you enjoy the outdoors and sharing experiences with children, then consider contributing a few hours to the Delaware Nature Society's Volunteer Guide Corps. This highly diversified group of men and women are responsible for teaching programs to over 26,000 children annually. NO special background is required, and you select the schedule, ages and programs that appeal to you. Topics include maple sugaring, Native Americans, wildlife, and farm life. There are opportunities to use artifacts and scientific equipment, develop new interests, enjoy monthly natural history meetings, and participate in field trips. Most of all, you foster understanding and a sense of environmental stewardship in children. Click here for details!
Summer Counselors (ages 14 - 17)
Help children discover the magic of the natural world as you assist with summer camp. Become part of our teaching team as you work with instructors, teach programs, maintain program areas, help with snack/recreation periods, and work with live animals. Enjoy fun, friends, adventure, and animals! Work weeks are flexible to accommodate vacations. You can even work towards earning a President's Youth Volunteer Service Award. This opportunity will give you excellent experience, and references, for future jobs and college applications. Have a great time at the mid-summer counselor canoe trip and party!
