What: Applications are now being accepted for Delaware Nature Society summer internships. Internships provide experience in teaching/co-teaching children's classes for a statewide, nonprofit environmental education and conservation organization. Interns will:
- Gain practical, professional experience involving a variety of teaching skills
- Become familiar with and use many environmental education teaching techniques
- Assist in week-long programs/field trips for children such as canoeing, wildlife studies, ecology and adventure
- Lead or participate in field trips
- Assist in after-care
Note: Includes one week of training
Where: Ashland Nature Center, 3511 Barley Mill Road, Hockessin, DE 19707
When: Mid-June - Mid-August
Qualifications: Must be a current student enrolled in a college or university program in an environmental, wildlife and/or education field. Communication and leadership skills. Knowledge of natural history, outdoor skills such as camping and canoeing and experience working with children are highly desirable.
Stipend: Approximately $3,200. Please inquire about lodging. Must have own transportation.
