Ashland Nature Center

Thursday Morning Birding at Ashland
Thursdays until June 4

Join us on a walk around the Ashland property to identify the birds of spring. Stroll through meadows, forests, thickets, and marsh in search of migrant and resident birds, learn identification tips, and meet other local birders.

Saturday Evening Nature Walk and Campfire
2nd and 4th Saturdays: May 9 & 23, June 13 & 27, July 11 & 25, Aug. 8 & 22 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
$10 per family - no registration required. Pay at the door.

Take the family out to Ashland for an evening nature walk and campfire with a naturalist. Walk the trails at Ashland in search of wildlife, owls, frogs, salamanders, and other animals! Follow this up with a campfire complete with smores that you roast on the open flame. Come have fun with the family in the great outdoors.

Join us for a tour of Bucktoe Creek Preserve, a 285-acre property near Kennett Square, PA that is being managed to preserve and restore biodiversity. See restoration projects in practice and learn about native plant communities at this special property of mature woodlands, thickets, meadows, wetlands, ponds, and creeks. Enjoy hot tea and muffins after the walk. Program meets at the Bucktoe Creek Preserve. If you are planning to attend, call William at (302) 530-8526 to reserve your spot. Birding Walks at Bucktoe Creek Preserve

Start your week with a bird walk around this 285-acre private nature preserve near Kennett Square, PA. We focus the walk on teaching beginners about local birds, their ecology, and identification. Enjoy the varied habitats of this beautiful property, meet other local birders, and attend multiple times to see how bird populations change with the seasons. Gourmet coffee and tea are served at 7:45 a.m. and the walk starts at 8:00 a.m. We provide binoculars if you need them. Friday Afternoon Botanical Hikes at Bucktoe

Enjoy a weekly survey of the botanical treasures at Bucktoe Creek Preserve, which serves as a sanctuary for nearly 400 species of native plants. From the early woodland spring ephemerals to the late-blooming meadow plants of early autumn, every week promises something new. Occasionally through the year we will feature guest leaders focusing on subjects such as grasses, sedges, mosses, fungi, and lichens. Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the hike. Coverdale Farm

Farm Fun Day - Wednesdays only!
April 1 - November 18th; 12 pm - 2:30 pm
Member/Non-Member: Free/Adult $5, Child $3, child ages 2 & up

Pack up your picnic lunch, bring along some friends, and come on out to Coverdale Farm located on Way Road in Greenville, Delaware. See the farm animals, talk to the gardeners and farm staff and spend a nice time outdoors.
