What Do Birds Eat? Max: 15
Course #: U09-073-AS Saturday, May 16, 2:00 pm - 4:00pm Member/Non-Member: $9/$15 Leader: Brittany Hoffnagle Berries, insects, mice, seeds and fish is quite a diet! Look at some of our taxidermy birds and learn what and how they eat. Venture outside to look for berries, seeds, and insects and use binoculars to look for Red-tailed Hawks, song birds and woodpeckers. Finish the day with learning how you can attract birds to your own house by making your own bird feeder using recycled bottles. Nature and Art Max: 15 Course #: U09-074-AS Saturday, June 6, 2:30 pm - 4:30pm Member/Non-Member: $9/$15 Leader: Megan Kasprzak Trees, flowers, streams, and landscapes are just a few of the great sights you can see at the Ashland Nature Center. Walk along the trails and discover nature's beauty by exploring various habitats looking for flowers, insects, trees, and streams. Create a lasting memory by using crayons, color pencils, and other media to draw and color the things we find while enjoying a small snack. Explore the farm garden and crop plot to see the diversity of fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs growing; then harvest ingredients for our dinner. After our homemade picnic, we'll design and plant our own miniature gardens. Seeds and plants, fences and paths, ponds and scarecrows, the choice is yours to make your garden complete. All materials and dinner included. A Corny Coverdale Adventure Max: 12 Course # F09-076-CF Friday, September 11, 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm Member/Non-Member: $30/$40 Leaders: Barbara Reader & Gloria Cooke Share in a story about a chicken's "corny" dream to find a treasure hidden under a big pink pig! Journey through the farm to find the tall corn at Coverdale Farm. Explore the cropland to discover ears of pop and field corn growing; "pop" into the corn crib to discover hundreds of ears; prepare some corn with an antique sheller and feed it to the sheep, pigs and chickens.
