PUBLIC GROUP PROGRAMS

The Delaware Nature Society offers a full-time summer internship in the Group Programs area, June-August.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Teaching natural history and environmental education programs at Ashland Nature Center and off-site for children and/or adult groups.
  • Teaching Scout badge programs.
  • Conducting morning and/or evening programs for group overnights at Ashland Nature Center.
  • Assisting with Butterfly House duties, including capture of adult and larval butterflies; care of insects and plants; collecting food plants for captive larvae; occasional facilitating for DNS members and public visitors to the Butterfly House.
  • Assisting with maintenance of computer records and other office duties.
  • Assisting with program preparation and equipment maintenance.
  • Assisting with care and feeding of live animals in the Education collection.
Applicant must have good communication skills and enjoy working with children; background in natural history, entomology, biology, education, or related fields.

Delaware Nature Society provides training and a $2,800 stipend. Intern must provide own housing and transportation.
