Child's Play in Delaware (with Delaware Historical Society)
Saturday, September 10, 1 - 3 pm
Join the Delaware Historical Society and the Delaware Nature Society at Buena Vista for some historic play with many games and toys! Discover what it was to be a child through different eras of Delaware's history: share in games and toys from the 16th century to the present. Both active outdoor and quiet games will be played; children should dress for play, and will receive a toy of their own to take home. (Ages 5 and up).
Monarch Migration

Every year millions of Monarch butterflies migrate 3,000 miles to overwinter in the mountain fir forests of central Mexico. Be a part of this amazing journey by learning to capture, tag, and release these butterflies in conjunction with the Monarch Watch "citizen science" program. Meet some live specimens from Ashland Nature Center's Butterfly House and learn the secret of lepidopteran wings.
Harvest Time at Buena Vista

Tour the grounds and check out the farm fields to discover how the land was used in Buena Vista's early days, what has changed, and what has remained the same. Celebrate the harvest using old-fashioned techniques to create a familiar treat - popcorn! Remove corn from the cob by hand, pop over a campfire, and make your own butter to top it off.
Autumn Astronomy
Friday, November 4, 7 - 9 pm
Use naked eye, binoculars, and telescope to observe Jupiter blazing in the west, a fat gibbous moon high in the south, a celestial swan overhead, and a host of other constellations, stars, and deep-sky treasures. Afterwards, warm up with a cup of hot spiced cider and cookies.

Tour Buena Vista at its most beautiful - decorated for the holidays - then create a holiday ornament using natural materials.
