Wake up hibernating senses as we use sleepy eyes, ears and noses in the crisp winter air. Smell fresh pines and listen to the music of rustling leaves and breaking twigs. Take a short walk to see the winter magic of trees before going inside to warm our toes and enjoy a snack.

Ground holes, tree holes, in-the-meadow grass holes... what kind can we find around Ashland? Take a short walk to see holes that are bigger than your foot and smaller than your finger, empty holes and holes that are homes. Figure out how the holes were made and what animal uses them.

Close the refrigerator door and come to Coverdale Farm - that's where we'll find the milk. Explore the farm to discover the animals that make this delicious food and their babies that drink it. Visit with plenty of piglets, lots of lambs and cute calves. Learn the secret of cow's milk straight from the source. Finish the morning with a snack of milk and cookies of course.
