Ashland Nature Center

Ashland Nature Center is located 9 miles northwest of Wilmington, 11 miles north of Newark and 5 miles south of Kennett Square, PA. At Ashland, you can explore four self-guiding nature trails traversing 81 acres of rolling terrain through meadows, woodlands and marshes. Information about the trails and upcoming activities may be obtained at Visitor Services inside the main building.

Programs for ages 18 months through 18 years, adults and families are offered year round at Ashland Nature Center and our nearby preserves, including Coverdale Farm. The week-long summer programs for youngsters are especially popular; registration begins in January and many programs fill quickly.

From June through September, a Butterfly House provides close-up observations of butterflies in stages from eggs to adults.

Several very successful community events are held annually: Native Plant Sale (1st weekend in May) and Harvest Moon Festival (1st weekend in October).

Each year, thousands of school children come for field trips and overnight programs in our lodge and University of Delaware accredited courses are offered for teachers during the summer.
