FREE and open to the public year-round featuring a 10-acre park with flower garden path, a quarter-mile pond loop through a freshwater, tidal marsh and a four-story education center with panoramic views.
We are located on the Wilmington Riverfront in Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is 212 acres of tidal marsh adjoining the Christina River and is home to many types of birds, beavers, dragonflies, turtles, butterflies, other wildlife, and flowers.
We offer safe, fun and educational outdoor experiences for all ages and offer programs for schools and programs for groups such as teachers, community and recreation centers, faith-based groups, scouts, and professional organizations. We provide a wide variety of free and low-cost programs, and we work to improve the health of the environment and community.
