Job Description

Delaware Nature Society’s CSA program at Coverdale Farm Preserve, located in Greenville Delaware, is looking for motivated applicants to work on the farm for the 2018 season. This job is seasonal and will end in late Autumn. The period of employment for this position is flexible however a typical season runs from April until October.

Duties include:

  • Working with CSA Farm Team seeding, potting, planting, transplanting, weeding, trellising, thinning, managing irrigation systems, pest control, growing, cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting produce and flowers throughout the growing season (70%)
  • Washing, sorting, organizing, and displaying harvested crops in an organized and attractive manner (20%)
  • Marketing and Sales: helping the CSA members on share pick up days (5%)
  • Maintenance and care for farm tools, facilities, and equipment (5%)

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work well with a small team
  • Ability to maintain a friendly and positive attitude towards CSA members and staff
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow)
  • Prior experience preferred but not required

Hours Per Week and Pay

  • This job has a maximum hour limit of 900 for the season
  • 15-40 hours a week, $9-$12/hour
