Environmental advocacy

Help us speak out for water, wildlife, and land conservation so wildlife and our communities thrive

For over four decades, the Delaware Nature Society has worked aggressively, through a scientific, fact-based approach, to be a leading voice encouraging conservation and protection of our region's natural resources. We have worked to gain funding for farmland and open space preservation, protect threatened and endangered species such as the red knot, and advocate for sound, environmentally responsible energy policies. As the state affiliate for the National Wildlife Federation, the Delaware Nature Society addresses more than 50 environmental issues on the federal, state, and local level.

  • Restoration of Wildlife Populations
  • Transparent Coastal Zone Regulatory Process

Climate and Energy

Delaware Nature Society supports efforts to slow and limit the damage caused by climate change including improved energy conservation and efficiency, adoption of renewable sources of energy, and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

  • Reforming the Ethanol Mandate
  • Increasing Delaware’s Renewable Portfolio Standards
  • Planning at the local-, state-, and federal-level for the impacts from climate change
