Environmental advocacy

We're speaking up - help make the voice for the environment even louder.

A long history of environmental advocacy

For over four decades, the Delaware Nature Society has worked aggressively, through a scientific, fact-based approach, to be a leading voice encouraging conservation and protection of our region's natural resources.

Successes achieved

We have worked to gain funding for farmland and open space preservation, protect threatened and endangered species such as the red knot, and advocate for sound, environmentally responsible energy policies. As the state affiliate for the National Wildlife Federation, the Delaware Nature Society addresses more than 50 environmental issues on the federal, state, and local level.

Statement on EPA nomination

As the Delaware state affiliate for the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), Delaware Nature Society agrees with National Wildlife Federation's (NWF) decision to oppose Scott Pruitt’s nomination as Environmental Protection Agency Administrator. While it is highly unusual for NWF or Delaware Nature Society to take such a strong stance against a cabinet nominee, we have made this decision based on our belief that America and Delaware needs an EPA Administrator who respects sound science, protects our outdoor heritage, and will uphold our bedrock conservation protections, and puts the interests of all Americans above special interests.

To learn more about the concerns specific to Scott’s Pruitt’s record on environmental issues please visit: Editorial Memo from the National Wildlife Federation on the opposition of Scott Pruitt

If you agree with our concerns, please contact the congressional leaders in your state. View contact information by state: Contact your Senator

We also thank Senator Chris Coons and Senator Tom Carper who have voiced their concerns on the Pruitt nomination and intend to oppose his appointment.

Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to uphold our conservation mission, as well as the protection of clean water, air and open space.
