On March 4, 2015, Delaware Nature Society, along with our partners Partnership for the Delaware Estuary and Center for the Inland Bays, launched a statewide clean water campaign.
The Clean Water: Delaware's Clear Choice campaign will:
- Build an alliance of Delaware stakeholders to support sustainable funding for clean water.
- Support efforts to ensure that funding for clean water improvement projects places an emphasis on green infrastructure projects.
- Lay critical groundwork to further educate and connect residents to their local waterways and empower them to take action to improve the quality of these waterways.
We believe that securing funding for clean water can lead to a cleaner environment, healthier crops and food sources, improved economy, and increased tourism. By securing support for clean water initiatives throughout the state, we are securing a better, stronger Delaware. Clean water is truly Delaware’s clear choice.
The campaign is funded by the William Penn Foundation .

Thank you for making Clean Water Rally 2017 a success!
On June 6, 2017, nearly 200 people rallied in Dover to celebrate the release of the Clean Water and Flood Abatement Task Force Report; urge decision makers to implement the recommendations within the report; and advocate for additional clean water funding. After gathering outside of Legislative Hall, citizen advocates spoke with Governor Carney and their local legislators to explain why clean water funding is personally important to them.
Rally attendees included Delaware Senate President Pro Tempore David McBride (D- Hawk’s Nest), Delaware State Senator Bryan Townsend (D-Newark), Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Secretary Shawn Garvin, academic experts on clean water, conservationists, community leaders, industry representatives and residents from every corner of the state.
The rally, which continues to grow in size each year, included brief remarks from Senate President Pro Tempore McBride, Senator Townsend and DNREC Secretary Garvin; more than 20 exhibitors that provided information on local watersheds and water quality; Natalie’s Fine Food Food Truck; face painting and all-around fun!
The rally’s sponsors included our premiere sponsor Speakman Company as well as fellow sponsors Corrado Construction Company, Pennoni, The Williams Law Firm, DRPR Strategies, National Parks Conservation Association, National Wildlife Federation, Tidewater Utilities, Blue Blaze Associates, Duffield Associates, and Dogfish Head Brewery.
